Biography

Maya Sophie Stansbury is a Polish-American artist based in Asheville, North Carolina. With a BFA in ceramics from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, she has cultivated a unique artistic practice that merges her passion for the natural world with intricately adorned ceramics.

Stansbury’s journey of self-discovery has taken her from her European roots to the vibrant ecosystems of the Appalachian Mountains. Her work pays homage to traditional naturalist folk art while celebrating the rich biodiversity of her surroundings. 

With her body of work “The Art of Conservation”, the artist invites us to reflect on the importance of protecting endangered species and appreciating the beauty around us. These artworks serve as a reminder of our shared responsibility to care for the planet.
